The role
As a Systems Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you will work in an exciting workstream of a Future Submarines programme. Creating a data centric and digitally driven modelling and analysis capability will be your focus, exploiting technology to enable effective end to end maintenance support for Royal Navy nuclear Submarines.


Day-to-day, you’ll create and maintain modelling and analysis systems to enable a foundation for an informed, evidence-based maintenance support programme to meet MoD project requirements for increased submarines availability, capability, and sustainment engineering.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and maintaining modelling and simulation systems
  • Exploiting both data and digital technology to deliver data-led insights into submarines availability
  • Working directly with UK MoD to support and develop the strategic direction of supportability analysis
  • Identifying new ways of working and look for opportunities to develop new capability
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team as a collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders
  • Presenting accurate data to assist with high level decision making


This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.


Essential experience of the Systems Engineer:

  • Competency with logic or programming, ideally experience with Python or similar
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and adaptable to support cross-functional work
  • High level of computer literacy, comfortable with Excel
  • Able to identify technical risks and issues and raise mitigating actions, including developing proposals for investigations and/or solutions / process improvements


Qualifications for the Systems Engineer:

  • Qualified to minimum of a degree in a STEM discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, System, Data or Maths). Experience in lieu of formal education would be considered


Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) / and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
