About The Role

At EKFB (Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM) we’re shaping Infrastructure for a better tomorrow. All four of our partners bring specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing, and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high speed rail projects.

We’re recruiting for a Senior Surveyor to join our team at the North Chilterns Area. This position will assist in the management and coordinator of the sections survey team to achieve the following:

  • Take a pro-active approach and reasonable care to ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of themselves and others.
  • Ensure the section’s survey station network is established, communicated and made available to all survey & engineering personnel to download before construction begins.
  • Provide a topographical survey in preparation for engineering works on site.
  • Review with the engineering team that sufficient information is available in the correct format to set out the works / enable machine control construction in accordance with the programme, and to resolve any inconsistencies in the information provided, including feedback on any changes made.
  • Facilitate setting out of the works in accordance with contract requirements before the work is programmed to start.
  • Arrange, where required, instruction / training to members of the engineering team who may not be familiar with survey equipment / software being used.
  • Communicate with engineers, foremen, gangers, workforce and sub-contractors to ensure full understanding of information provided.
  • Monitor movement of earthworks and structures as necessary.
  • Arrange measures of bulk materials where required.
  • Assist the Chief Land Surveyor where required to; develop survey budgets, assess and review actual costs, taking action where appropriate, report any changes to the project manager and commercial team, and help with anything else deemed necessary.
  • Check the works during progress and on completion to ensure that it has been constructed in line with the setting-out information provided, measured before being covered up, and that information is passed to the QS and QA functions.

About You

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Membership (or working towards) CICES or RICS: (Desirable)
  • Degree in Survey; Geodesy: (Desirable) with five years relevant work experience, OR; related qualification(s) with ten years relevant work experience
  • Good spoken & written English
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, AutoCAD
  • Experience in using appropriate survey instruments and their associated software
