The Opportunity

As our next Risk Analyst, also known as a Risk Practitioner, you will report directly to the Risk Practitioner Lead and collaborates closely with Senior Risk Practitioners and Risk Leads throughout the project. Embedded within specific programmes or areas, Risk Practitioners support the risk management processes and framework. This role is crucial for enabling effective, risk-based decision-making, enhancing delivery certainty, and boosting stakeholder confidence by fostering a proactive risk management culture within the HPC Project.

What you will be doing…

As a Risk Practitioner, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Risk Lead and Senior Risk Practitioner, helping project teams identify and address significant risks that could impact business objectives. You will lead risk reviews, conduct one-on-one interviews, and challenge risk owners to ensure they provide accurate, concise information. By highlighting areas needing attention, you will help maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date risk register. Additionally, you will engage deeply with risk owners to test key assumptions and refine mitigation strategies, driving proactive risk management throughout the project. Other daily responsibilities include:

  • Generate and present risk and opportunity information for the project team, PCMs, Senior Risk Practitioners, and Risk Leads at Delivery and Programme Risk Review Meetings and ROTCs.
  • Provide analytical support through robust analysis and interpretation of technical, financial, and performance data to aid prioritisation and necessary actions.
  • Produce accurate risk insights and reports to identify gaps in process adherence and recommend improvements for data quality and project decision-making.
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders, including Tier 1 Contractors, to ensure contractor-held risks are properly evaluated against the project risk register.
  • Propose and contribute to enhancements in the integrated risk management procedures, processes, reports, and tools.
  • <span 45=”” frutiger=”” light=”” lt=””>Help promote and embed a culture of good governance, risk awareness and compliance across the organisation.

Who you are…

We are looking for you to hold a positive, motivated outlook to your work with a solid background in risk management and exceptional Excel skills. You will be a quick learner, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, as is the confidence to discuss challenging topics. While experience in project controls or management is advantageous, a proactive attitude and project delivery experience are paramount. We are also looking for you to hold:

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proven ability or potential to facilitate risk discussions with PMO and project teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting risk management information, report outputs, and training material to diverse stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accurate outputs and valid quality data.
  • Previous experience in risk management and/or project controls is desirable.
  • Risk experience may include risk analysis, presenting risk data using qualitative and quantitative techniques, and familiarity with risk management toolsets.
