The role
As a Principal Cost Lead, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is a new role to bring additional cost control leadership to major submarines programmes.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be Leading the Submarines Cost Control teams to set and maintain project baseline budgets, oversee control of commitments and accruals, ensuring accurate and reliable cost forecasting, and lead on resource management for the submarines cost control teams.

 

  • Provide leadership and team management for the Cost Team
  • Liaising with Risk, Scheduling and Estimating Leads to ensure integrated reporting
  • Oversee implementation of change management in alignment with requirements
  • Collate performance and cost reports and associated analysis. Identify and offer mitigation actions where appropriate.
  • Lead on provision of resource and financial forecast data into the project

 

This role is full time 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 – 3 days in the office/onsite.

 

Essential experience of the Principal Cost Lead

  • Extensive, relevant experience in a similar environment / business sector
  • Experienced in various contracting methodologies (e.g. FIDIC/NEC/JCT)
  • Advanced knowledge of cost management and earned value techniques
  • Quantitative risk analysis experience
  • Full project lifecycle experience

 

Qualifications for the Principal Cost Lead

  • Ideally a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Project Management or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Project Planning and Controls Practitioner – Desirable
  • Project Fundamentals qualification – Desirable
