About the division
The advisory and programme delivery division delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity from a few million pounds to £20bn through the technical disciplines of land advisory, programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting, education and healthcare management. Our transportation portfolio is primarily a UK based business working in four key sectors of rail, highways, land and aviation. We deliver programme, project and commercial management services to clients in mainland Europe, Africa, Middle East, India and Australasia while supporting other parts of the transportation business across the globe.

Candidate Specification

A bit about the role
As Planner, you will be responsible for creating and updating the progress baseline schedule plans and recording of progress, resource loading and expenditure as well as working within multidisciplinary project teams providing planning support to both the project team and clients.

Job Profile

Required criteria for the ideal Planner:

A degree in a construction management, engineering or related project management subject.

Working towards a relevant professional qualification (APM or equivalent).

Demonstrable planning experience in multiple construction, design or an engineering-based project environments across all of the implementation phases.

Practical experience and competency in using schedule management tools (e.g. Oracle P6).

Able to develop and maintain a programme of work autonomously in collaboration with the project team, from first principle through an outline project scope of work, scheme drawings, contract works information, contract data and key dependencies.

An understanding and practical competency of contract (NEC3/4), cost and risk management, and the related dynamic co-dependency of these in conjunction with the programme.

Monitor key activities and interfaces based on the project schedule and advise project management of key risks, issues, dependencies and opportunities.

Experience of working in high-performing teams and for taking responsibility for deliverables and of the output of others, e.g. assistant planners’ output.

Excellent oral and written communication and organisation skills.

Be proactive and focused in driving the project to achieve its key objectives and in doing so, enhance the capability and performance of the project.

Excellent client-facing skills and ability to build positive relationships.
