Job Description

We are looking for a full-time mechanic to join the Mobile Plant Maintenance team. The Mobile Plant Maintenance Team provides a maintenance and repair service for a wide range of mobile plant and equipment at the Liberty Steel Rotherham, Stocksbridge and Brinsworth sites.

The Role

The primary focus for the Mobile Plant Technician will be for MOT preparation, annual servicing, breakdown fault finding and repairs to site vans, HGV vehicles and trailers, mobile cranes, forklift trucks and a range of heavy industrial specialist vehicles used in the steel making business. The vacancy is for a Mobile Plant Technician with specific engineering knowledge and skills to provide a mobile plant mechanical and basic electrical maintenance / fault-finding service.

Requirements

  • Technicians should be apprentice, BTEC NVQ Level 3 trained and ideally have 2 years’ experience in maintaining vehicles. Knowledge and experience of HGV Regulations in preparing vehicles to MOT standards is desirable although not essential.
  • Team members must be able to understand safe working procedures and apply recognised safety practices to each task they are undertaking including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Team members must be self-motivated and highly flexible. They are required to work unsupervised and deliver a first-class customer service in accordance with departmental goals.
  • Key competencies are a methodical approach to work with attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills, decision-making skills and effective verbal communication.
  • A current driving license is essential

  • Good communicator

The working pattern is Monday to Friday 7:30-3:30 with alternative weekend working 6:00 am -2:00 pm with a midweek day off.
