Job Description

This position is under minimum supervision, assumes responsibility for overall management of an assigned area and/or for performing highly specialized functions within an assigned area of the library. Provides technical or topical information, expertise and guidance; collects and analyzes data; prepares special or recurring reports; performs in-depth searches as requested; supervises subordinate personnel. This is the 5th level of the Library Job Family 2nd level for Library Associate.

Responsibilities:

1. Manages daily operations of 3D printing and virtual reality spaces; trains, schedules, and supervises student workers who support and moderate library technology spaces.

2. Maintains physical space, hardware and software; coordinates routine maintenance and software updates for computer workstations and other technical equipment and hardware in 3D printing and virtual reality spaces; oversees general security of equipment and supplies.

3. Preforms library technology-space mediation tasks as needed; conducts regular inventory of equipment and consumable materials in 3D printing, virtual reality, and other library technology spaces.

4. Updates and adds to internal documentation and knowledge base materials for 3D printing, virtual reality, and other library technology spaces; assists with the update and operation of digital signage; creates demonstration materials suitable for use in 3D printing, virtual reality, and other emerging formats.

5. Assists personnel in the Emerging Technology and System Development unit with the review and update of library technology-related content on internal and public facing websites, information pages, calendaring systems, social media and other communications channels.

6. Attends library workshops and instruction sessions as assigned.

7. Perform other duties as assigned.

(Annual Salary: $34,278.40 – $53,934.40)

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

A technical background is not required for this position, but applicants should be excited and willing to attain a high-level of proficiency with 3D printing, 3D scanning and modeling, virtual and augmented reality, and other leading edge library-related technologies as they gain experience in this rapidly developing area. Must be able to move between multiple physical locations on a regular basis Willingness and desire to learn new skills as needed Proficiency using Microsoft Products (Office, Teams, Groups, etc.) 2 years of relevant library or technology-related experience Proficiency using the Springshare suite of library tools (LibGuides, LibStaffer, LibAnswers, LibCal) Knowledge of 3D printing and the Maker movement Strong background in customer or public services.
