As Gymshark’s Lab Manager you will help deliver the strategy for Sports Science and Testing. You will provide technical expertise and process management for testing activity across the breadth of the Innovation Team. You will manage the world-leading testing spaces, to ensure efficient process relating to the day-to-day running of the laboratory and testing spaces, resulting in joined-up delivery with colleagues in the Innovation Team and the wider business. You will live and breathe the data mindset, being a key player in ensuring that all innovations are backed by robust science.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
  • Own and develop a high-quality standard operating procedure portfolio
  • You will be providing operational support to the Leads of the various testing spaces, to enable efficient data collection which will support leading innovations.
  • You’ll be leading the efficient running of the testing laboratories, assisting in the development of new items of specialised equipment or processes for use in research and helping to streamline data acquisition
  • Liaising with our network of vendors, to ensure that technical equipment is serviced and repaired in line with contractual agreements
  • Driving quality record-keeping practices and own the upkeep of the assets register and approved user list
  • Assisting with the successful procurement of new equipment
  • Actively research and keep up to date with new standard testing protocols in the industry
  • Working with our Safe and Sound Team, to ensure accurate records of risk assessments are maintained along with meeting wider Health and Safety policy requirements
  • Managing Lab Technician staff to ensure support to the wider Innovation Team
  • Ensuring each testing space is well presented and ready for use, in line with all research activities planned
  • Responsible for managing day-to-day issues that may arise
  • Working collaboratively with the Innovation Team and across other relevant departments
  • Responsible for efficiently managing the testing spaces and helping to ensure that key strategic business objectives are delivered
  • Developing training processes and principles to ensure an appropriate level of knowledge for different stakeholders to use different equipment
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

For this role, you’ll have proven experience of managing a high performing testing laboratory environment within materials, sports science, or product testing setting. Alongside this, you will have the ability to work within a confidential environment, organising service work schedules and have experience within fast-paced surroundings.

  • Understanding of all aspects of the scientific data collection process and the importance of rigour
  • Knowledge of external trends and best practice in your area of expertise
  • Proficiency in the use of Ms Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • You’ll be the type of person who will be self-motivated, proactive, pragmatic and able to steer complex workflows
  • You will also have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both technical and non-technical colleagues
  • The ability to thrive and manage with a minimum level of supervision
  • You will have a systematic nature and exemplary organisation skills
  • You’ll be agile to change, you’ll be a collaborative team player and be comfortable with identifying needs, providing solutions and adding value
  • First-class interpersonal and communication skills
