Field Service Engineer, responsible for the servicing, commissioning and calibration of analyser systems supported by ABB Measurement Products [including Advance Optima (CGA, ACF-NT,ACF5000), Gas Chromatographs, analysers) throughout the UK and occasionally overseas

Your responsibilities

 

  • Service engineers are required to visit client sites, usually alone, servicing and calibrating ABB & 3rd. party
  • analyser systems.
  • Analysers returned to the Stonehouse repair facility are evaluated and repaired by service engineers.
  • Client training either at the Stonehouse training facility or onsite will be developed and conducted by the
  • service engineers
  • The ABB Measurement Products engineering group at Stonehouse also integrate analysers into systems with
  • analyser shelters and sample systems. The service engineers are required to assist in check-outs at and
  • follow the system to site for pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of the project.
  • Technical and administrative reporting
  • Client technical telephone support
  • Required to work in a variety of domestic industries, offshore and occasionally overseas
  • UK and foreign travel and working away from home will be required as a matter of routine
  • When sufficiently experienced engineers will participate in a weekend callout rota. Approximately 1 in 6 to 1 in 8 weekends on call
  • Ensure ethical behaviour in line with code of conduct
  • Ability to work stand alone and work within a team
  • Awareness and ability to operate to general Health & Safety Rules
  • Commitment to self-development and continuous knowledge and skills improvement through formal and
  • hands on training and development
  • Maintain the expertise of the ABB service team through training, personal development, workshops,
  • documentation and knowledge sharing
  • Understanding of Customer Service principles and their effect on the business
  • Integrate into the wider Country Service Team and other ABB business areas developing cross business
  • opportunities
  • To ensure compliance with Sustainability Processes, Quality Management System, Safety Procedures and Accountancy Policies
  • Interact and work directly with customers at varying levels to meet their expectations of the Service product
  • Ensure legal compliance for customers
  • Responsive to customer requests
  • Develop and maintain key customer relationships with the following: Project engineers, Front End sales, Account managers, Service Operations manager, Service Supervisor
  • Develop ABB analyser product knowledge and experience
  • Deliver excellent customer service
  • Provide prompt and timely support to customer needs

 

Your background

 

  • Qualified to a minimum HNC level in instrumentation or similar subject
  • Experience of servicing in an industrial environment, on a variety of analyser systems
  • Good customer and networking skills
  • Good reporting skills
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and in isolation
  • Knowledge of analysers / ABB analysers would be an advantage
