You will be part of a rewarding project to build a new nuclear power station Sizewell C, on the East Suffolk coast which will supply 6 million homes with low-carbon electricity. Sizewell C will play a key role in the energy transition and will be one of the biggest Net-Zero projects in the UK.

What will the role look like?

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate previous experience in delivering environmental management support to construction projects, you will be able to provide technical expertise in managing environmental risks and opportunities and leadership support to projects, serving both the design and project delivery teams.

What will the role look like?

  • Champion the implementation of the business sustainability strategy and develop and monitor project commitments
  • Assure compliance with the LOR Energy and Environmental Management System on the project
  • Provide technical advice and support the project, client and contractors to identify and implement effective environmental management procedures and identify opportunities to implement best practice
  • Support our project teams to embed our clients and our own sustainability requirements within the project
  • Review, advise and deliver environmental training required for project staff and operatives
  • Engage with the workforce around environmental issues
  • Effectively engage with clients and internal/external stakeholders
  • Ensure innovation and best practise are developed, implemented to address environmental issues and learning shared.
  • Liaise with the appropriate statutory bodies on behalf of the project, obtain relevant consents to facilitate the works and maintain compliance with theseMonitor environmental performance and undertake inspections of the project on a regular basis
  • Promote the reduction of energy use and carbon emissions
  • Coordinate the delivery of environmental deliverables on the projects
  • Support the business in driving our ambitions to push the boundaries of sustainability, helping us to achieve our ambition to be a net zero company delivering nature positive solutions with teams that represent our diverse society.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • Be capable of meeting deadlines and  prioritising activities
  • Able to take strategic views of the environmental requirements and agree and implement resultant plans.
  • Positive approach to the challenges of change, help others to become receptive and responsive to change
  • Logical and well organised with the ability to prioritise
  • Understanding of the requirements of ISO14001 and ISO50001 and management of compliance with Management Systems
  • Experience in delivery of BREEAM or similar sustainability assessment schemes

Qualifications

  • Relevant undergraduate degree in Environmental management, sustainability, environmental sciences or similar
  • BREEAM AP
