Purpose of the role:
This role will be joining the UK&I Digital and Integrated Systems Product Line who deliver a wide range of Signalling and Infrastructure Projects across the UK. The Engineering Quality Manager will be expected to manage the engineering quality deliverables, to ensure the deliveries from the Site are of the right quality level.
What are my key responsibilities?
- Makes sure that Engineering standards are well known and applied:
- Alert in case of deviation,
- Manage corrective actions, when necessary,
- Propose improvements when relevant,
- Manage Engineering Quality audits.
- Ensure Design Review Type 1 (Technical Maturity) & Design Review Type 2(Technical Issues) are embedded into Engineering Practice and executed to plan.
- Monitor S/W BAM (Baseline Agile Monitoring) ensuring unexpected Baseline Changes are understood and Lessons Learnt to prevent reoccurrence.
- Ensure S/W Baseline Strategy are well defined and included in Engineering Management Plans.
- Ensure REX Process is deployed and followed for Project and Processes such as Problem Solving 8D, CSS and Process Reviews.
- Manage CONQ supporting Site improvement plans.
- Lead APSYS (Alstom Production System) Quality Improvement Clause, Quality in Development Phase Improvement Plan to ensure compliance to processes and realise ROI.
Improves Quality Engineering standards with the return of experience:
- Manage no recurrent list top issue and check recurrence in project execution,
- Lead REX committee and integrate return of experience in Engineering standard and golden rules.
- Ensures that Tender Design Review and Tender Gate Review are implemented, monitored, and maintained.
- Optimise DFQ check list for Engineering deliverables and Design Review,
- Implement REX in DFQ check list for Engineering deliverables and Design Review check list.
- Attend and prepare Tender Gate Review and product development
Manages the assurance of quality of Metier Engineering deliverables:
- To check quality status of Engineering deliverables including REX
- Support GR preparation regarding Engineering scope,
- To assure quality of Engineering Supplier (engineering sub-contractors).
- To link engineering and manufacturing engineering (design for manufacturing).
- Deploy process/product FMEA: critical Characteristics
Makes sure that Design Reviews are efficiently held:
• Challenge and check consistency of the Design Review vs Project Risks,
• Make sure that DR are well prepared and fuelled GR process,
• Follow action plan and update Design Review status.
Manage Engineering Quality issues:
• Ensure that problem solving process is properly applied and meet the objectives,
• Make sure that the Engineering team is included in the Customer issues solving process (if needed).
• To Update Quality Engineering KPIs and propose action plans for improvement when necessary.
• Propose and follow up action plans for improvement
What do I need to qualify for this job?
Essential Requirements:
Experience:
- Awareness on Processes and Products delivered in the project,
- In the application of a wide range of Quality Management Tools.
- Experience in managing Quality tools and problem-solving tools.
- Knowledge of railway industry (norms, certifications) would be an asset particularly from Signalling and Infrastructure background.
Experience Desirable:
- Coming from Engineering & be selected as potential successor for SED or direct subordinates of SED.
- Experience in Design Review Process for Signalling and Infrastructure Projects
- Awareness of Software Baseline Strategy’s and able to understand reasons of change.
