Job Description

This full-time staff position for a CAD Technician / Draughtsperson, is to provide a Drawing Support Service to the Engineering Functions within Liberty Speciality Steels.

 

The jobholder will be a part of the Engineering Services Department, which provides a variety of different engineering support services to the business. In this role you will collaborate with project / design engineers, plant engineers and operations managers to compose engineering drawings, manage bill of materials (BOM’s), maintain engineering databases, inspect engineering components, provide excellent customer service and provision of technical drawings.

Key to this role is the ability to obtain expert knowledge of our drawing systems and the skill to extract and update the appropriate documents

The Working environment is mainly office based with regular site visits to manufacturing areas.

The Role

  • To provide a CAD based drawing support service to the Department and Plant Engineers, manage document storage systems, updating the Autodesk Vault system with drawings and manuals.
  • To be able to locate drawings from and within our archive department, update records by obsolescing or removing redundant drawings from the system and cross referencing to replacement drawings where necessary.
  • Provide guidance to other users of AutoCAD and Vault, and to facilitate the Site Services Certificate process used to identify services and utilities when planning excavations.
  • This role will contribute to the running of a truly unique metals recycling facility that turns scrap metal into materials for the future through electrical arc furnaces, casting machines, rolling mills and much more. This is a truly diverse manufacturing business looking to innovate traditional manufacturing processes for a more environmentally friendly world using green energy and recycling at its core.

 

Required

  • The successful candidate should hold an Engineering qualification or have significant experience in Engineering drawing, an AutoCAD qualification with 5+ years’ experience in CAD Drawing and document management (Autodesk Vault or similar). Experience with GTX Raster CAD would also be beneficial.
  • The jobholder needs to be a good communicator at all levels as a proactive team player and possess necessary skills to work with Senior managers and Section Engineers on a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Other experience that may be useful would be:
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent organisational skills/time management/able to work to deadlines and work ethic
  • The ability and confidence to develop and deliver training to colleagues.
  • For the successful candidate training will be provided to resolve any knowledge or skills gaps.

 

This role will operate on a Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm basis.
