The project: 

The Logistics Integration Manager is responsible for the integration of construction logistics within a large defence programme. This includes the planning and management of all construction logistics operations and their delivery by third-party contractors in support of the Programme. Through collaboration and direct accountability this role will develop a system-wide integrated and secure approach to construction logistics for all projects within the Programme. This role is responsible for leading and optimizing construction logistics operations and maintaining close working relationships with the project teams, other teams within the Programme and across the wider estate, and contractors.

The role holder will be part of the logistics team and manage the logistics delivery organisation in enabling and delivering the programme construction activity.  The scope of the role will include the delivery of materials, people and site enabling logistics operations. The role holder will be responsible for the line management of the materials logistics manager; the people logistics manager; project integration managers. Due to the strict security requirements, candidates must be a UK National and will need to progress through security clearance.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Protect the operation of the wider estate site by ensuring that Programme activities do not impact the day-to-day operation of the estate.
  • Convert project logistics demand into operational plans and oversee their safe and efficient delivery through engagement and collaboration.
  • Ensure there are no disruptions or delays to the progress of the projects within the Programme due to construction logistics constraints.
  • Design and implementation of the processes and procedures necessary for the establishment and sustainment of construction sites throughout the project lifecycles of construction projects within the Programme.
  • Produce Employer’s Requirements to inform the procurement and of contracts and ensure that the operations of contractors to the Programme align with the requirements of the construction logistics methodology and framework.
  • Drive the highest standards of health, safety, and wellbeing within the Programme logistics operation.
  • Plan and manage the logistics operations budget to deliver to project demand profiles within budget.
  • Ensure continuous improvement across the range of Programme logistics operations to deliver operational, safety and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop and implement contingency operations to counter risks to operational logistics delivery and ensure continuous effective logistics support.
  • Manage third party contractors in their delivery of support to the Programme logistics operation including: procurement of contractors; induction; performance management; commercial management; and day-to-day operational control.
  • Ensure that Health, Safety, Welfare and Environmental targets are met and that there is a an appropriate HSE culture throughout the logistics operation and its people and contractors.
  • Ensure that all personnel have the required security clearance, certification and right to work in the UK.
  • Ensure that required work permits and permissions are in place for all logistics operations activities.
  • Capture and report data to demonstrate operational performance and efficiency, identify trends and deliver continuous improvement to cost, quality and programme.
  • Ensure contractor resource levels are constantly reviewed and maintained at appropriate levels.
  • Report any trends or risks that are likely to impact the operation of the wider estate, HSE or the reputation of the logistics team, the Programme, the client, or its contractors.
  • Prepare method statements, risk assessments fire plans and emergency procedures as required ensuring they are up to date, delivered appropriately and adhered to.
  • Manage mobilisation and demobilisation of project applying systematic planning and communication to achieve success.
  • Linkage with other projects and divisions, supporting wider organisational objectives, encouraging cross fertilisation across the business, and identifying opportunities for innovation.

You’ll need to have:

  • Experience in managing engineering design, contract, and field execution strategies for project delivery along with experience in managing procurement and management of complex contracts.
  • Digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams.
