Salary Base salary: £38850pa to c.£45700pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 15% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits – check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As an Assistant Business Manager at HS2 you’ll support the Senior Business Manager to track Directorate performance against strategy & business plans to enable the Directorate to achieve its objectives. The role will also include support management of projects that enable delivery of key business programmes which may vary on a Directorate basis. About the role:
- Supporting the Senior Business Manager to develop and collate the Directorate plan, based on leadership established strategic priorities, supporting the monitoring and tracking of Directorate performance from a financial, project and people perspective.
- Supporting the Senior Business Manager and other support functions to track progress and report against various metrics for the Directorate e.g. business plan.
- Supporting the Senior Business Manager to manage governance processes for the Directorate, meeting minutes and actions, providing updates and milestone tracking against any actions that fall outside of corporate governance process e.g. Safety & Assurance.
- Supporting HR with monitoring progress against workforce plan, including managing input to the RAP process on behalf of the Director (Noting that the responsibility for submitting requests into the RAP process still sits with the Line Manager).
- Support defined components or small ad-hoc internal projects in line with centrally defined processes and frameworks.
- Support the business with managing the Directorate/Functional operating model (e.g. processes, policies, data), identifying where there enabling changes/updates may be required in relation to the broader Directorate operating model changes, and supporting leadership to implement these.
- Work with Procurement & Commercial to support the management of various contracts across the Directorate (Note that accountability for the procurement and contract management of third party supplier contracts still sits with Procurement & Commercial however the Business Manager may assist with the administration of small, ad hoc or Directorate level procurements).
- Support the Senior Business Manager to manage Directorate reporting, working with colleagues from PMO and to integrate reporting with the overall corporate planning and programme reporting cycle.

- Ability to analyse and distil multiple pieces of potentially complex information and present this clearly in written materials.
- Stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of HR data, processes and reporting.
- Understanding of Finance data, processes and reporting.
Type of Experience:
- Experience of application of effective governance frameworks in a government or corporate organisation.
- Project management experience.
